As springtime quickly approaches, it is time to think about starting your annual spring cleaning.

SERVPRO Industries, Inc. is a member of the EPA's Design for Environment (DfE) program. DfE evaluates human health and environmental concerns associated with traditional and alternative chemicals and processes. These evaluations and analyses empower hundreds of businesses to select safer chemicals and technologies.

The EPA/DfE has established a set of criteria for formulating environmentally friendly cleaning products, and has put together a listing of safe cleaning components that can be used in Green cleaning formulations. As a member company, SERVPRO can access this listing known as CleanGredients and uses it as a resource to formulate environmentally friendly cleaning products that incorporate "green" chemistry.

We have formulated three Green Cleaning Products that will allow you to complete almost all of your spring cleaning tasks.

Carpet & Upholstery Green Clean #251 is a product designed for cleaning both carpet and upholstery. It is truly a "one product does all" in that it can be used as a spotter, pre-spray, in-line cleaner for both truck mount and portable equipment, and in low-moisture bonnet cleaning. The product is pH neutral, biodegradable, contains no phosphates, solvents, dyes or fragrances.

All Surface Green Clean #250 is an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional surface cleaners. It is pH neutral, contains no dyes or fragrances. All components are safe, non-toxic, phosphate free, Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) compliant and rapidly bio-degradable. The product is designed as a one product cleans all for surfaces that can be wiped or mopped. It can safely be used on walls, ceilings, countertops, floors, etc. The exclusive formulation contains both ionic and non-ionic surfactants that are naturally derived and provide excellent multi-functional cleaning.

Window Green Clean #249 is an environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional glass cleaners. It is pH neutral, contains no dyes or fragrances. Spring Clean-Up: Not Just About Good House Keeping

3/15/2017 (Permalink)

When you consider that the air in your home is 10 times dirtier than the air outside, Spring cleaning is about healthier living. Allergens have been accumulating during the months of winter with dust, dust mites, animal dander, mold, mildew, and ordinary household dirt and grime lurking inside your home. Unless you clean them now, you'll continue to share your living space with them.

Your friends at SERVPRO of Weymouth have compiled this checklist to help make sure that this year's spring cleaning leaves your home sparkling, spotless, and allergy-free:
  • Eliminate mold and mildew indoors by cleaning under the refrigerator, washing and disinfecting garbage cans, scrubbing bathrooms, and cleaning or changing shower curtains.
  • Examine and clean your basement thoroughly, since mold and mildew flourish in damp environments. You also can help prevent the growth of mold and mildew with humidity control products.
  • Vacuum those areas often neglected, even if they do not look dirty. Invisible allergens have a way of collecting in these undisturbed corners.
  • Change the furnace filter. A clean filter takes dust out of circulation so indoor airflow can't redeposit it on furniture.
  • Identify and tend to high-traffic areas. Dirt from outside is the top source of visible soil in main entrances and transition areas, such as from carpet to wood or tile floors. Start by thoroughly vacuuming areas that see a lot of activity, such as entryways and main living spaces.
  • Consider a deep clean of carpets. No matter the pile, carpet is talented at hiding a build-up of oily, sticky soil-attracting residues. Consider getting carpets professionally cleaned each year.
  • Check for moisture-related issues. During wetter winter months, some homeowners may experience water damage that can lead to stains and provide an opportunity for mold to grow. Do a quick check of ceilings and walls for stains, as well as in attics and basements if you experienced heavy snow.
  • Don't forget about HVAC units. There are several factors that affect how often HVAC systems need to be cleaned, such as the level of filtration, how often windows are open, the presence of pets and/or smokers, etc. A good rule of thumb is to assess systems once every three years. For window units, clean the filter once per season, as these collect condensation that attracts soil, dust and debris on the coils.
  • Remember to change the filters on your air conditioner, air purifiers, dehumidifiers, windows and vents. After cleaning your house, you want all the incoming air to be clean, fresh, and breathable
SERVPRO of Weymouth has the expertise to provide a deeper clean than your basic house cleaning service. We specialize in the cleaning and deodorization of carpets, upholstery, draperies, hard floors, walls, ceilings, air ducts, and more.

Spring Clean-Up: Not Just About Good House Keeping

When you consider that the air in your home is 10 times dirtier than the air outside, Spring cleaning is about healthier living. Allergens have been accumulating during the months of winter with dust, dust mites, animal dander, mold, mildew, and ordinary house- hold dirt and grime lurking inside your home. Unless you clean them now, you’ll continue to share your living space with them.

Your friends at SERVPRO of Weymouth have compiled this checklist to help make sure that this year’s Spring cleaning leaves your home sparkling, spotless, and allergy-free:

Eliminate mold and mildew indoors by cleaning under the refrigerator, washing and disinfecting garbage cans, scrubbing bathrooms, and cleaning or changing shower curtains.

Examine and clean your basement thoroughly, since mold and mildew flourish in damp environments. You also can help prevent the growth of mold and mildew with humidity control products.

Remove any wet piles of leaves, grass, or mulch outside your home, since mold spores are airborne particles that can easily float indoors.

Vacuum those areas often neglected, even if they do not look dirty, since invisible allergens have a way of collecting in these undisturbed corners.

Dust everything including light fixtures, ceiling fan blades, and the tops of cabinets and armoires. You also may want to consider using an electrostatically charged cloth that traps dust, or a vacuum attachment designed specifically for dusting.

Remember to change the filters on your air conditioner, air purifiers, dehumidifiers, windows and vents. After cleaning your house, you want all the incoming air to be clean, fresh, and breathable.

Fall Property Maintenance Tips

9/21/2016 (Permalink)

Did you know? The air in your home is 10 times more dirty than the air outside.

During the Spring and Summer months, allergens accumulate and fill areas of your home or office with dust, dust mites, animal dander, mold and other unhealthy elements. Unless you address the situation now, the air quality will continue to deteriorate.

Your friends at SERVPRO of Weymouth want to ensure that you and your property are properly prepared for the upcoming season. Therefore, we would like to offer you some helpful tips that will adequately prepare your property for the Fall:

  • Eliminate mold and mildew indoors by cleaning under the refrigerator, washing and disinfecting garbage cans, scrubbing bathrooms, and cleaning or changing shower curtains
  • Remove any wet debris from around the home or office, as mold spores are airborne particles that can easily float indoors
  • Schedule to have your chimney cleaned within the next month. Excessive buildup of creosote and debris, as well as miscellaneous branches, leaves and animal nests can create a dangerous situation as it increases the potential to spark a chimney fire.
  • Remember not to ignore your ductwork, vents and HVAC systems. Unnecessary dirt and debris can pose a serious threat to the health of your family or employees if they are not properly maintained.

SERVPRO’s licensed technicians can provide all of the remediation and cleaning services necessary for the upcoming season. A proper cleaning will combat all particles that infiltrate your property and provide for a safe and worry-free environment by:

  • Enhancing your indoor air quality
  • Improving overall air circulation
  • Eliminating built-up dirt and contaminants
  • Extending the life of your heating and cooling systems

Call the professionals at SERVPRO of Weymouth at (781) 337-0344 and rest easier this Fall knowing your property is clean and out of harm’s way.
